An effective therapy should have a strong record of positive results. HCRI has a long history of producing results that any program, clinician or therapy participant would be proud to attain. You can witness the results we have obtained by looking at the Before and After Videos as well as those in Videos of Our Clients Today.

Our more than 4,700 clients have come to HCRI from all states in the United States and 24 foreign countries. A total of 18 foreign languages have been represented in therapy.

Immediate Results of Therapy (200 cases):

  • Pre-therapy disfluent word scores averaged 15.1%
Post-therapy disfluent word scores averaged 1.6%

  • 90% of the clients acquired fluency in the normal range (3% disfluent words or less)

  • Scores on the Perceptions of Stuttering Inventory moved into the normal range for 89% of the clients. This indicated a major release from struggle, avoidance and expectancy behaviors previously associated with stuttering

Follow-up Results (200 cases one year post-therapy):

  • 75% retained fluency in the normal range, 15% retained improved fluency and 10% had regressed to pre-therapy levels

  • 72% retained Perceptions of Stuttering Inventory cores in the normal range, indicating that avoidance, expectancy and struggle behaviors of stuttering had not returned

  • In addition, responses to follow-up questionnaires showed that 95% of the clients reporting that our therapy was worthwhile to them

  • 93% reported having more confidence in their speech

  • 89% rated their fluency as improved over their pre-treatment levels

  • 98% indicated that they would recommend HCRI to other persons who stutter
